Swedenborg in Popular Angel Books
"I am well aware that many will say that no one can possibly speak with
spirits and angels as long as he lives in the body...But by all this I
am not deterred, for I have seen, I have heard, I have felt."
- Emanuel Swedenborg
The brilliant Swedish scientist, philosopher and mystic, Emanuel
Swedenborg (1688-1772), has given the most comprehensive and most
definitive account of angels ever recorded. His unique descriptions of
angels, their lifestyles, and their influence on human beings are based
on 27 years of personal experience where he walked and talked with
angels while "in the spirit." No study of angels is complete without
taking his experiences into account.
Swedenborg's descriptions of angels
and particularly his work Heaven and Hell have had a significant
influence on the current popular literature on angels. He is mentioned
or quoted in many books, with several devoting multiple pages or even
entire chapters to his spiritual experiences.
